Help, please.
« on: May 04, 2009, 05:22:58 PM »

Hi, I just bought my DWA-542 card the other day.
I've had so much trouble with this card and I don't understand what the problem is or how to fix it.

The problem is straight up I can't get the card to work.

I used to have vista when I first tried and it worked one time, rebooted didn't work again.
I was sick of vista anyway so I formatted my HD and installed XP, I downloaded the XP drivers and even tried using the CD that came with I get the same things everytime:

I get that when I run the CD installer, or it tells me it can't find the adapter.

When I try and use the .inf files for XP I get this: or the device cannot start

I've tried: moving the card to a different PCI slot, taking it out and putting it back in.

Once I think it's going to work when it sometimes gets through the setup I get this at 99%:

Help anyoneeee?  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Download the updated drivers from the support site and install with those.

Nope, no firewalls or anti-virus software.

Pretty much I ruled out everything, I installed 3 different operating systems and tried all PCI slots, I think its a bad card.

Good news is since you said you just purchased it you should be able to return/exchange it to point of purchase.
