I factory reset my 857 and then loaded code, then factory reset once more then reloaded the saved configuration file from v1.03 and all succeeded. Didn't get a chance to go online with it as I'm testing other routers.

I noticed that the Date was Oct 2012, same as v1.03?  ???

I've been on it for a couple days now.  So far, good and stable both wireless and wired.

Let us know how it works for you.

I downloaded and flashed current firmware (1.04).  So far, things are ROCK SOLID with the following networked devices:

*2 Xbox 360's
*2 desktop computers
*2 laptop computers
*2 iPhone 5's
*Samsung Galaxy Nexus
*Ipad
*Android Tablet
*3 DirecTv HD DVR's (HR34-700 / HR24-500 / HR23-700)
*Denon 3311ci
*2 Panasonic Plasma TV's
*Wii
*Nintendo 3DS XL

(I think I mentioned everything....WHEW!)

Current setup (Motorola Cable Modem SB6120 / DLink DIR-857 / DLink DGL-4500 [AP] / 2 HP Network Switches)

I'll keep monitoring and report any hiccups.  Can't wait for DGL-5500!  Gonna be tough to replace either 857 or 4500  :-\  Might have to do a COIN FLIP!

FYI, Instead of generating a new post if the original post contains errors, you can always edit that original post by selecting Modify with in that post to make changes.  ;)

So for the smost part the FW upgrade from 1.03->1.04 was easy. The uploaded config that was saved earlier, loaded with no errors and all of my config was correct. This was the main router that supplied,
1) 3 LAN desktops
2) 4 Bridged Linksys routers
3) 4 DLink wireless cams, wirelessly connected to the Linksys routers
4) Ipad 3
5) Iphone 5 (6.1 FW)
6) Wireless thermostat ;D
7) XBOX slim
8) (2) 50" Plasmas
9) Toshiba Laptop 5GHZ

Before the 1.04 update the router ran solid. My only complaint in my case was the 5GHZ wireless was weak in far reaches of my house.....actually it sucked, 2.4 was much better. After the 1.04 update I was hoping for better wireless..... unfortunately it's the same.

I actually picked up 2 weeks ago the DIR 865-L and the wireless is by far better than the 857. No question the power amps in the 865-L has boosted the signal strength and it reaches to the far corners of my house. much better.

The 857 is a great router may have to use this in bridge mode somewhere in the chain of wireless ocean

Thanks for sharing. IMO, due to the internal design of the antenna vs external and maybe some power out put regulations that maybe the 857 does lack some range. Again, 5Ghz is mainly impacted by building materials and such and thus reduces the range unless in line of site. Just the nature of the beast sometimes. I think with the 865L, they might have change the internal configuration of the antenna and also being in a vertical standing position vs horizontal position like the 857, may have some form of improvement on range and signal strength. The 857 is a solid router for the most part though. Soon as the 657 and 826L are done testing, the 857 is going back online so I can test v1.04 out. I don't think there was much to the update. Specially seeing that the status of the date between v1.03 and v1.04 are in the same month.  ??? Don't ask. I DON'T KNOW WHY!  ::)

Thanks for the announcement!
Can this release be used world wide? Or is it again North America only?
Unfortunately the download doesn't contain documentation, only one binary (firmware) image.

I asked D-Link support via the service portal for a new version available for German users six days ago, but did not receive an answer yet...

I bought the DIR-857 at US as soon as it released back in Apr 2012.
Then I took it with me to Argentina where I live. Since then I upgraded the firmware from v1.0 to 1.03.
Today I came from work, and wireless wouldn't work. So after trying several things, I came across that firmware v1.04 was released.
I applied it, and now I have a steady internet orange light. If I plug the internet cable to my laptop, I have connection.

I have many questions regarding what is going on with my DIR857, but my question for this subject is:

Is it OK to upgrade to v1.04 if I live in Argentina?
The modem was bought in US.

Thanks!
