Invisable LED's ?
« on: July 08, 2013, 05:37:43 AM »

Has anyone had any success replacing the red (night vision) LED's with "invisible" ones?
If direct replacement is too damaging to the camera, then building an external ring could possibly work.
I'm not worried about warranty.  Just what LED's to use.

DCS-932L camera owners have successfully used external third-party IR illuminators as an alternative light source for Night Mode (and used electrical tape to cover the existing on-board IR illuminators).

I have found this.  It appears to tell me everything I need.

By popular demand, I drafted the following FAQ post to describing the basics of an external IR illuminator: DCS Network Cameras - Improving Night Mode with an External IR Illuminator

If you have additional information that could improve upon this post or see any glaring errors, please let me know and I'll make the appropriate changes.  ;)
