Opening Port 8883
« on: June 18, 2021, 10:06:26 AM »

I recently updated my DIR-867 Firmware to v1.30.  I have a MyQ Garage Door Hub that no longer works, but it was working when I was using Firmware v1.10.  After chatting with MyQ support it appears I need to open port 8883 for my device to work correctly.

Does anyone know how I can open port 8883 in the router's settings?

Pg 62 of the user manual should help you on this:
https://support.dlink.com/resource/PRODUCTS/DIR-867/REVA/DIR-867_REVA_MANUAL_v1.02_WW.pdf
Disable uPnP as well if you configure a PF rule.

Thanks for your help.

My issue is more difficult because the myQ device is not showing up in the list of connected devices.  For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to want to connect to my wi-fi network.  I can see my 2.4Ghz network from the myQ's setup software, but it doesn't seem to connect when I enter the wi-fi password.  I have the security set to WPA/WPA2 as suggested in the device's support documentation.

I tried to set a Reserved IP address for the myQ device, but the router never seems to make connection.  Now that I've gone through trying to open port 8883, I'm suspecting that the device is not actually gaining access to the wi-fi.

As a quick test, disable WPA on the 2.4Ghz radio temporarily. See if the device will connect to the 2.4Ghz radio while it's OPEN. Re-enable WPA2 after testing...

Good test!  My device was able to connect to the 2.4GHz wi-fi with the security disabled.

So it seems like the device does not like the WPA/WPA2 setting.

I tested switching the Security to WPA2/WPA3 (from WPA/WPA2), but that didn't work either.

Seems like the device does not like the security modes on this router.
Something to ask the mfr of this device about.
Can you set WPA only on the router? If not, possible the device isn't supporting of WPA2 or something between the router and this device isn't working right in the WPA2 area.

Unfortunately the router doesn't have an option to go back to just WPA.

I tried to setup a guest network on the 2.4GHz band to see if the device could connect to that, but that caused my primary 2.4GHz network to become unresponsive.  My cell phone could not see my normal 2.4GHz network when I attempted to enable a guest network.

Guess I'll have to go back to the device's support team to see if they can help.

I'd contact D-Link support about the guest network and 2.4Ghz. Enabled GN should not bother the main 2.4Ghz network...
