PPPoE not working after upgrading to 1000Mbps
« on: August 20, 2020, 11:03:30 AM »

Hello

The PPPoE setting is not working on my COVR 2202 agter upgrading to gigabit ethernet.
If I configure it on my old Linksys wireless router and connect through a cable to Port 1 of COVR 2202 the led turns white and the internet works just fine.
If I connect directly the internet cable (UTP) to COVR 2202 the led keeps on blinking orange and I have no internet.
I tried it on firmware versions 1.04, 1.05 and even on 1.06. The same issue...

Using in this setup is not an option since my old router is a 100Mbps one is a bottleneck for the whole network.

For a short while it was working on 100Mbps ethernet connection (with firmware 1.05), but after i upgraded to 1000Mbps (they changed some equipment in the building. I think a switch) I cannot make it connect.

The same PPPoE connection works fine directly on my laptop or on my old router.

Hello

Region: Europe, Romania
Factory reset: yes I performed a factory reset but only before the firmware update. I will try to do it both before and after.

The internet provider installed a single modem in the apartment building (20+ apartments) and I already receive the signal from a switch (when they switched me over to gigabit I noticed that the technician changed the switch on my floor .... both the old and the new one were Huawey. Because it is a switch I don't think it should matter) through UTP cable.

IPS Service: I don't know but because I have gigabit it has to be Cable or Fiber. 20+ apartments all with at least 100Mbps (that is the slowest speed they offer) => it has to be fiber optics.
Modem: I don't have access to the modem.

Does the ISP required PPPoE for Gb service or an you use DHCP?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.

We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Problem solved:

Turns out it was a problem with my UTP cable. A wire was not correctly connected.
Until I was on 100 Mbits only 4 out of the 8 wires were used, and I think also the protocol negotiation was for this setup, so an incorrectly connected wire did not matter.
Put when I updated to 1000Mbits the router needed all 8 wires and the speed/protocol negotiation failed.

It worked on the old router because it was on 100Mbits, so for it did not matter the speed (100 or 1000Mbits) it defaulted to 100.

Utp cable was changed and now everything works fine!

Glad it was just a cable.

Enjoy.  ;)
