Title: DIR-850L does not recognize my usb drive
Post by: crimsonleo on October 30, 2013, 04:38:51 PM
My router is acting strangely.
It does not recognize my ADATA 64 GB USB 3.0 flash drive (FAT32, NTFS),
I tried my 160 GB USB 2.0 external hard drive, still does not work. (FAT32, NTFS)
The only thing it can recognize is my 8GB SanDisk USB 2.0 flash drive (FAT32)

Hardware version A1
I tried different firmware, 1.05, 1.07 and 1.09, anone of them works

I contracted Dlink customer support and they have no idea.

Do these USB drive have any external power connections with power adapters by chance?

Did you get a case number from the phone call to D-Link support?

  • What region are you located?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Yes, I have done factory reset multiple times before and after firmware upgrade.

External hard drive do not external power. However I think it's not power problem since my flash drive does not work, either.

I have a case number c6366923, they agree for an exchange, however I have only one router and if I mail it back, I can't use all my WiFi device. I think I will just forget about storage function and buy a NAS device instead.

You might barrow a router while you wait for the 850 to be replaced as a suggestion. I would return this unit for a fully working unit.

Good Luck.
