Dsl 2640u only connecting to local sites

I'm having a problem where my Dlink dsl 2640u is only connecting to local sites and im unable to connect to .com sites such as facebook etc.
My brothers experiencing the same thing
Any idea what settings i have to change on my router for it to work?

Might check with your local ISP service to make sure they are servicing signal to the modem.
Can you access the modems web page at all?
Ensure you check the phone lines to make sure they are in good working condition and properly filtered.
