Author Topic: Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox WON'T SHOW picture at all - just sound!  (Read 13775 times)

Hey

I am having severe trouble. I have two computers. A newer HP laptop running WIndows 8, which runs the DCS-930L smoothly, and then there is my work computer - which I really need it to run smoothly on, who just flat out refuses to give me picture. I really need it to be able to run the camera.

This work-computer runs Windows XP Professional. It runs 1920x1080p smoothly, runs Youtube, as well as Netflix and HBO without complaining. However, it WILL NOT show my videocamera at all. Neither in Active X nor in Java. Java is a pain in the ass on XP apparently, as it prompts every f'in time I start the 192.168.1.10 thing.
On my newer computer I can run activeX in internet explorer or java on both Chrome and IE. But on the Xp computer, it will not run neither. It just gives me a white box with nothing in it, and sound. It gives me sound. But no picture.

Which leads me to believe that it is really working but something is missing.

I have tried installing/verifying the following:
 - activex (which says it works on IE)
 - Flash
 - Shockwave
 - Java (updated to newest version and verified)

I am at my rope's end here, brothers. I need help. What can I do? What can possibly be wrong?.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What FW version is currently loaded on the camera?
How are you accessing the camera? mydlink.com?

If PCs at home display the video and the work PC does not, I would presume that the work PC has issue some where.
Ensure the display adapter drivers are updated on the work PC.

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

PC Web Browser Configurations
If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again. (For older generation routers.)
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

mydlink.com Supported Browsers
Internet Explorer 7 or higher (32-bit) - Add mydlink.com to the "Compatibility View" exceptions list.
Firefox 12 or higher
Chrome 20 or higher
Safari 6 or higher (Mac OS only)

IE 11 and DLINK Active X Install
A quick workaround is to enable developer mode (F12), go to the button icon on the right (Emulation) and select "Internet Explorer 10" instead of "Edge" on Document Mode.

I am trying to access it through 192.168.1.10. The standard Ip for it.
I am running firmware 2.0.

I can't figure out why it doesn't work. I tried downloading a codec pack as well, this nothing...
I do not want to buy a new windows just to get this to work.

I have to try some of your suggestions tomorrow. I am way to tired now.

Is the work PC located on the local network or at work on the remote network?

Ya, XP may becoming incompatible. FF should probably work though...

Firefox does not like it anymore than the two others.. Firefox does not even make a white box for the activex module.

Is there any way to reset the activex controller so that it may try to forcestart again?

The work computer is located on the same local area network(here at home).

See if FF has a User Agent that you can tell FF to emulate a different browser model.

I will try when I get home.

Be aware though, I have not used the CD to "install" the camera on the work computer, I assume this is not necessary since it is basically just used to set the cam up to an ip, tell it to use wireless connectivity etc.

Will I be able to use the camera software to see the cam, because that would basically solve the problem. I don't HAVE to show it in the browser, really...

Now I used the CD to configure it, and believe it or not. It showed picture in the end of the configuration.

HOWEVER, when I try to display picture in D-Link D-view I get a black screen again. I can't figure out what is missing. I try to add the cam manually but it says: "could not add cam, problem with network" or something of that sort, and still the screen is black.

Could there be a driver missing?

Update... I finally got iSpy to show video from the camera, but not with sound. Though - sound is not such a big deal really I would like to have sound on.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
