Usually if you do a regular RMA, I believe you have to send your unit in and wait for a return unit to come in the main. Cross shipping would be that you keep the unit and wait for another unit to come in, then once you get it, and if all works out, you send the bad unit in. If they said something difference, we'll need to find out. Ok, I'll ask and see what the deal is. If I can help save you as a customer, will this work for you? I can't guarantee anything however I'll see what I can do.

That is the correct process for a regular RMA which is what I'm going to do at this point.
I don't need to go through the advanced RMA process as I have a spare (non D-Link AC router) which I'm already up and running on; I simply prefer the advanced replacement so I wouldn't have to tinker with my network much, but that's already been done.

I'm now just waiting on the new RMA approval to send in my bum router; when I receive the repaired router I'll be selling it to fund an AC3200 router from a different manufacturer.

It's up to you if you want to speak to D-Link Canada, but they weren't very accommodating when I spoke with them this morning. Had no real logic as to why they needed to charge me $8 to send me a replacement router first.

Thanks for listening...

Ok, Canada is different from USA. Sorry I can't be of more help. Sorry you had a bad experience. Please give the replacement router a try. Maybe you'll like it.

Good Luck.

Appreciate the offer and the assistance provided so far.
If you don't work for D-Link, they should hire you as their customer service lead, you're far better than their actual team.
