Hi alien,
Information about Securespot can be found here: http://www.dlink.com/products/securespot/
-
are you in the betatest of securespot with the dir-655?
-
Currently, the DIR-655 and the Securespot remain as separate devices. I am not sure where you have heard otherwise.
-
Looks like you are trying to incorporate the DSD-150 in your topology, it would be better to verify the main feature you want to configure in your router and the secure spot as a security device.
-
at this moment securespot firmware is availabale for the dir-625 and on different forums a read about a beta test for securespot firmware in the dir-650 on this site the firmware for the dir-625 is available : https://securespot.bsecure.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fMyAccount%2fDefault.aspx

That is a closed beta. I don't believe D-Link is allowing the code to be given out by us. I will check for you though.
-
im surprised it hasnt been leaked, if it was me it would be on every tracker quicker than you can say closed beta.
-
Some people are fighting it. They don't like the idea of putting more demand on hardware meant to allow a broadband connection to be shared. The DIR-655 is the world leader of Draft 2.0 N. D-Link hasn't been this far ahead of our competition since the DI-614+. Don't fix what isn't broken.
I should say person not people are fighting it. I am pretty sure I am alone on this. Fortunatley for alien, I have no impact of EU product sales/development.

Even if you had the code, you couldn't activate it without our permission. If you're interested in how it will work, look at the DSD-150.

will there ever be an firmware for the dir-655 with securespot, is this plannend?
i would like to test it

hello
sorry to jump in, but i'm having a hard time understanding some of these "planned" features. from the manual/quick guide i read it seems that you have to download components and install them on your pc, now how is that different then the usual software AV/privacy controls like mcafee total protection, norton IS, kaspersky IS etc.?
-
The client is thin. It has a much smaller foot print then the products you mentioned. The price for the Service that includes parental controls, AV, ....may be less than those products AV price.
-
i actually doubt that, it may be smaller in size, but mcafee like memory, plus the largest part in serious AVs is the database for viruses, that's ~half the size in a decent AV (execptions f-escure, norton etc.). i think the only thing worth it is the parental controls (that way kids will have a harder time).
but popup blocker, identity protection (that's actually useless pinch trojans encrypt the traffic before sending so traditional identity protectors don't see a thing, they can only look for that in non encrypted traffic) are useless, basically bloating the router. regarding AV mcafee isn't the brightest one out there.

I believed the presenters graph on the comparison of the thin client against the compettion. I'll see if I can get and post the numbers from the test.
I can't have people doubting me....but I didn't do the test myself.
-
i willing to test it

The DIR-655 doesn't have an alpha firmware to support it and even then, what I get will not neccessarily work on EU versions.
