Why does the camera need to know the password of my email account in order to send an email to it?
-
It needs the PW for the SMTP service so it can send and use that server directly.

Ok. I am currently attempting to configure the camera to use gmail (smtp.gmail.com) but am not having any success. Has anyone successfully used gmail here?

For Gmail use:
Outgoing Server Name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Use Authentication: Yes
Use SSL: Yes (SSL Port 465)

I was able to do it on the second day of attempts. On the first day, Google shut down logins from that device due to many errors. I changed a setting to a "less secure" mode, whatever that means, and was able to use its smtp server. Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know. Glad you got it working.
Enjoy. ;)
