DCS-942L, I have 5 and love them.
BUT, have a question.
I have a elderly friend that has no internet or computer. Having a problem with thief. Would like to set up one of my cameras in her place for a week or so to see if we can get a ID of who is invading her place.
I have tried to use the 942-L camera with just the power and SD card. Doesn't seem to be recording........
Is there something I am missing or will it just not do it? Any ideas?
Thank You

This is from looking at my DCS-2230 connection - you may not have this option
Under wireless setup, looked for "Wireless Mode".
Change from "Infrastructure" to "AD-hoc"
That should work. The camera will create a wireless network that you can directly connect to. It won't try to connect to a router that isn't there.
Report back.

The option exists: Log into the DCS-942L web UI and navigate to SETUP > Wireless Setup > WIRELESS CONFIGURATION > Wireless Mode
