DNS ShareCenter - Reformatting a HDD
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:26:06 AM »

DNS ShareCenter owners sometimes have difficulty coaxing their ShareCenter to reformat an existing HDD. This procedure will force the DNS ShareCenter to provide the option to format an existing HDD.

Procedure

  • Power-down the DNS ShareCenter
  • Remove the HDD that requires reformatting
  • Mount the removed HDD in a PC
  • Delete the existing partitions in Windows
  • Re-seat the HDD in the DNS ShareCenter
  • Power-up the DNS ShareCenter
  • The DNS ShareCenter will no longer recognize the HDD as containing a valid volume and will prompt to reformat the HDD
