DIR506L mod for external antenna possible?
« on: June 22, 2013, 02:48:23 AM »

Hi all,

Does anybody know how to mod the DIR506L to connect an external antenna?

I would like to use the WMM-7-27 antenna.

Thanks.

Not with out breaking into the case I presume. That would void warranties.  ::)

Nothing around here or that anyone has mentioned as of yet. Model is fairly new. I recommend that if your needing a router with external antenna abilities, you should look into DIR-655 or 835, 825 models.

Thanks for your kind answer, but the DIR-655 or 835, 825 models are no mobile routers.

The DIR-506L has two functions I'm looking for:
 - 3G/4G Connections via an USB stick
 - WiFi Hotspot, building a local WiFi connected to an extern WiFi

An external antenna could be an advantage if I use the mobile router inside my RV camping car.

Probably not an option for using external antennae for the 506L then.
