2,4 ghz and 5ghz bands simutaneously?
« on: April 21, 2015, 10:51:41 AM »

Hej think i may have asked this before but i'm frequently kicked off my router wireless and have to restart it now and then.
Is it a bad idea having both 2.4 and 5ghz band configured in settings or should i settle with only AC wireless instead? Another problem is
when trying to connect to AC haven't really worked since i got the 868L last year. Maybe a little stupid because the only N device in my
house now is my Panasonic smart tv. Don't think it will connect to AC. I'd like very much Furrynuts opinion on this matter if possible:)

The purpose of these routers is to use both radios at the same time. The only problem that would prevent bad behavior on the wireless would be interferences on either radio and channels being used by neighboring WiFi.

I remember you had some experiences with your unit and though we had resolved some of them...

I haven't seen a TV yet to support AC modes natively on Wifi. Some may support 5Ghz N mode however I don't know.

What FW version is currently loaded?

Is USB 3.0 enabled on the router? Disable it and try again. There was word a while back that enabling USB 3.0 cause interferences on 2.4Ghz WiFi.

There is a newer FW version that you could try:

There will be another update after this to fix a security issue...

Not sure...I'm leaning towards your experiences being with interferences.

I would recommend updating and trying it out. Do a router config save to file first using IE or FF. Be LAN wired to the back of the router. Disable all 3rd party security SW and brower add-ons. Use IE or FF. Turn off all wired and wireless devices accept for the one wired PC. Do a factory reset using the routers UI. Upload the FW file. Let it process. Do one more factory reset, then set up from scratch. Do not load the saved config file. Lets to a clean install and setup and see how things work. Disable USB 3.0 feature...use USB 2.0 selection.

Can you post a screen capture of InSSIDer results? Adding Screenshots In A Post

Look for the USB setting under Setup or Advanced. There is a radio button I believe to select USB 2.0 or 3.0. Select 2.0.

Let us know how it all goes.

Let us know how it goes. I've had mine running for about a week or two and solid router.
