Dont start up after firmware update
« on: December 26, 2011, 12:31:11 PM »

Hi,

I am from Sweden, Google translate... :-)

I have tried to update my DAP to DAP-1360 Ver A1 with DAP-1360_A1_FW_v1.10B08.bin but after 15 minutes of waiting, I pulled the cable out and restart it. Now shines the LAN light constant regardless of whether the cable is in or not and the power LED flashes slowly. I can not access it with static ip address 192.168.0.51 and I think I've tried everything. I have kept the reset button for 20 seconds before shutdown and continuing kept inside it for 40 seconds and booting continued with the button for 30 seconds. No difference how long or often I press the button.

Any suggestions?

I use a Macbook OS 10.7 ...
Thanks...

Did you try the default IP address and not the static one? 192.168.0.1? I think.
If that doesn't work, I would contact your local DLink support office for Help, I think the FW process messed up the DAP.

Hi
Thanks for you answer...

Yes, I've tried it too ... I received a reply from Dlink today, I would send it back so I can get a new ... I did not think this kind of problems could arise. :-(
Did I use wrong version of firmware?

NO, there are checks to make sure that versions of FW are correct for each model. Did you update via wireless or wired?

Sounds like you'll get a new one and I recommend leaving the FW that comes loaded on it unless your directed by DLink. It should work well out of the box.

The reason I wanted to update the firmware was that I tried to make it work in WISP Repeater mode.
I want it to send out my iPhone 4s Hotspot through DAP BOTH wireless AND via cable. But I did it only work on cable.
This may not be possible but my last attempt was to update the firmware ...

Is it possible to get it like this?
My iPhone is "Internet WISP Outdoor AP" and "wirless PC" connects to the DAP?

Did you try to bet the DAP into recovery mode? Are you able to get that option?
If you can't then I would call your local DLink support office and ask for an RMA for this unit.

I have tried to do it. No luck, can not access the page. I think I understand but perhaps I misunderstood something?
I used a Mac computer and Firefox. Must it be a Windows PC?
On the DAP-1360 as the default IP number is 192.168.0.50. Should I still use 192.168.0.2 as static IP number on the computer and connect to 192.168.0.1 in my browser, or should I use 192.168.0.51 on the PC and connect to 192.168.0.50 to get to the emergency flashing?

If the DAP supports the recovery mode, I think you should use .50 in any browser from a MAC or PC, you just need to make sure the either computers network properties is set up for a static IP address of .51. You'll need to manually input this address in the netwok properties on the computer. Then open up a browser and type in 192.168.0.50 and it should display the recovery window, if the DAP supports it. If it doen't then you'll need to send the DAP back to DLink for an RMA.
