Has anyone gotten this to work?  I tried to load it on my DNS-325 with 1.05 firmware and it appeared to install but I can't get the Interface to load to enable configuration?

Hi vtverdohleb,

Thanks for this wonderful compilation.
I believe this Dlink add-on is still in Version 4.10 Build 9473. It does not support VPN GATE functions.
Any chance of compiling Version 4.12 Build 9514 released on the Nov. 17, 2014?
Alternatively, I would appreciate if you could direct me as to how to doing the compilation myself.

Hi texas_72,
I am afraid I have the same problems having tried out all the functionality in Softether.
It can only detect ip when a second unit of NAS is attached.  :(
I was hoping version 4.12 Build 9514 could overcome this issue.

I have this problem.
The softether server worked fine for weeks. After that, it refuses external ip-connections until I manually stopped and restarted softether ???
Perhaps it was the firewalls issues.  No sure anyone here encountered the same?

What model NAS? The firmware? After softether stops working in your processes list is vpnserver?

I have this problem

The NAS model is DNS-320L which runs on firmware 1.04. Softether worked well when I was in office(Internal IP). It fails to allow tunnel thru' from external IP.
I have do manual stop & start at DNS-320L to enable external IP connections again.

That's probably the problem SoftetherVPN, not the addon. I can't help :(

I activated 2 separate softether servers onto 2 separate units of DNS-320L. Both units shared the same Internet IP account but separate softether DDNS address. Perhaps this is what causes the instability and failed tunneling from external IP. It even fails to work after I de-activated 1 of the 2  units? I have to manually stop & start the the remaining unit to enable external connections again.

This forum attended by texas_72 gives a pretty good explanations why it failed to connect to Nas IP.
It seems the problem lies within linux internal kernel codes rather than with the SoftEther VPN

Hi texas_72,

I may have found a solution to our common problem to access our private NAT IP.
Do the followings:
Create a new Virtual Hub, Create as many users as you wish.
Under "Manage Virtual Hub", click on "Virtual NAT and Virtual DHCP Server(Secure NAT)", Click "Enable SecureNAT"
Check the "SecureNAT Configuration", you will notice the default Distributes IP Address is 192.168.30.10, default gateway 192.168.30. 1 (This is fine).
You may exit from here.

Next, ***********very very important**********
Do Not create "Local Bridge" for this Virtual Hub............

All done. It works well for me.
Upon logging into virtual hub, my assigned ip was 192.168.30.10. I managed to access my private NAT IP at 192.168.2.1 and view every other network folder.

Hi all, I spent hours with this without success.  Can anyone write here how they did if they got lucky?

I have the server running on the NAS.  The configuration page works.  I created users/password.
I even created a cert/private key using the built in vpncmd tool.
I don't know if I need to do anything else on the sever. Updating the config?  SHould I set a reference to those cert & private key somewhere?

On the client side, I'm using Android with OpenVPN client and I can't get to connect.  What options should I use?

Any other solution would be great too: You use a different VPN server? Different client?

I have OpenVPN server installed on the NAS too, but something, I can't get it to work.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Hi jy_p,

It will be a huge learning curve. Softether's forum doesn't offer much help either.
However, 3 quarters of your time could be reduced if you install "Softether VPN Server Manager for Windows".
Sofether works well with Iphone & PC client although I have less luck trying it on Android probably due to the fact it doesn't accept password authentication.
If I were you, I ditch OpenVPN for good. Softether's Client & Server work better on your NAS.
In so far, I managed to turn on SecureNat; Layer 3 Switching; Layer 2 Bridge Connection; Cascade Connection; L2TP protocol, OpenVpn, MS-SSTP protocol; IP routing, Split Tunneling; Tunneling of Virtual Hubs at 3 remote locations, password authentication & Individual authentication certificates. I am looking at installing radius server authentication in the near future.
Softether works well for people who do not own broadband account and has no control over password-locked wifi router. It could tunnels thru all kind firewalls easily & securely.

Hope this helps

It is a great Add-On, I hope vtverdohleb could supply us with the latest  VPN Build 4.14. I can never find time to do my own compilation since my DNS-320L don't support Debain Wheezy.
@ vtverdohleb, my Softether add-on crashed the 3rd time with no good reasons.

@ vtverdohleb

I have got 4 units of DNS-320L & 2 units of DNS-320(Older NAS) running on Softether VPN.

For the DNS-320 part, I copied and paste all Softether files into root directories, run a chmod and follows by sh start.sh start. All work.

My question now is that if I download and paste the latest version and build of source codes from Softether into the following folders.

Will it works?

I replaced all of vpnbridge, vpnclient, vpncmd, vpnserver и hamcore.se2 (v4.14-9529) .
Don't seem to work.

The files i have appear to contain path rather then binaries. See below

vpnserver
#!/bin/sh
/opt/vpnserver/vpnserver "$@"
exit $?

vpnclient
#!/bin/sh
/opt/vpnclient/vpnclient "$@"

vpnbridge

vpncmd
#!/bin/sh
/opt/vpncmd/vpncmd "$@"

I use Winscp to access root directory. After installing Fun Plug, WinScp failed to execute copy, edit and transfer commands.
The only add-on that work was "Midnight Commander."
I have got the whole thing to work again after to installing SSHD then reinstalled Fun_plug. (A built-in ssh at Fun Plug was the main cause)
These steps help to reactivate all of Winscp's functions.

p.s:..... if you forget your root's access password, use Fun Plug

Hey, that helped partially. I mean now I have ldd, but still vpnserver or vpncmd are not working:

root@SUN:/ffp/lib# ldd /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/SoftetherVPN/bin/vpnserver

I get the binaries from this link https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN/
Not sure why it doesn't work

On https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN (https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN) no ready binaries!
You can compile only this:

Yep, that's it. It works, but only till I restart the device. Where should I add this line to have it permanently?

I don't understand the question. To install the addon and run. Mentioned in a previous post commands are executed in the startup script - /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/SoftetherVPN/start.sh

Hi vtverdohleb,
I am installing Softether VPN Client on DNS-320L.
It seems the NAS don't have "make" command. I would appreciate if you could give me some tips to install this command.

Listed below are the problems I encountered using PuTTy........

hi mmmX,
i'm french...sorry for my english

I have a dns320l nas with add-on softetherVPN.

I am unable to access the NAS with the tutorial.
Logging Into virtual hub is ok, softerther assigned IP 192.168.30.10 but I can 't managed to access my private NAT IP at 192.168.0.38.

I view other network thing like 192.168.0.11

what the problem ?

Hi chamalo76,

Judging from the assigned IP of 192.168.30.10, I assume you have activated "Virtual NAT and Virtual DHCP (SecureNAt)" or simply SecureNAT. Your intention was to access your NAS which is located at IP 192.168.0.38 to no avail. Is this correct?

Once SecureNAT is activated, you ought to be able to access all ip in the network including the ip of DNS-320L. (**** make sure you don't turn on local bridge for the Virtual Hub that is SecureNAT-activated)

However, there is another issue with DNS-320L. It is cheap and a single core machine that does little multi-tasking.
I have similar problems before. Whenever I log into virtual HUB under SecureNAT and other workers at my office carry out large files transfers thru DNS-320L simultaneously, DNS-320L freezes up. (Sometimes, it waited long duration before web interface come up)
To verify this, goto DNS-320L, Management, System status, Resource Monitor, you will notice CPU's utilisation shoot up to 100%.

To overcome this problem, I installed 1 dedicated unit of NAS for softether, another NAS just for files storage.

Hope this solves your problems

Hi vtverdohleb,
I already tested in my DNS-325 Zerotier, but it doesn't work with private NAT IP.
Everything works with Softether, I can access all ip of my home network, except my Nas. :'( :-\
Thanks

Hi mmmmx,
great news, i try and let you know

Many Thanks

Hi

Hi Texas_72,

I have not monitored this channel for quite some time.
I think the problems you faced with zoneminder, Serviio, phpmyadmin were the same as the issue I highlighted at the previous tread which reads

I rephrase herein.
---------
"There is another issue with DNS-320L. It is cheap and a single CPU machine that does little multi-taskings.
I have similar problems before. Whenever I log into virtual HUB under SecureNAT while co-workers at my office carry out large files transfers thru DNS-320L  DNS-320L would freezes up. (Sometimes, it waited long duration before web interface come up again)

--------------
I am happy ever since.

Hello,

Any plans for providing a addon for the DNS-340L?

Great work by the way!

Hi,

In trying to get SoftEther set up on my DNS-320L, I tried to remove the add-on and reinstall it in the hope that I could return to the default settings.  That doesn't work - SoftEther settings persist even after the add-on is removed.

I tried a few tricks to try and remove the Softether settings and soon discovered that if I got it to stop listening to ports then I was totally blocked from configuring SoftEther.  Deleting the Softether add-on and re-installing it do not help.  The only possibility I found was to delete the entire DNS-320L configuration (management - system management - system settings - defaults - restore to factory default settings, or the paper-clip in the reset button trick).  It was then necessary to re-enter all my settings because it seemed as if the 'save configuration' (under  ...- system settings - configuration settings) performed after the softether add-on was first installed resulted in strange things happening if I loaded it again ('mydlink' no longer working, then part of the NAS login page missing, then unable to log into the nas altogether).

So..
The developer's great works could be even better if he reviewed how SoftEther configuration settings are initialised and how they interact with the DNS-320L save/load configuration feature.

(PS: I'm outside the intended use of this forum because my D-Link product and I are outside the USA - but since there is no alternative forum for us, and since the developer is also outside the USA, I hope you'll overlook that.  ;) )

Does anyone know whether log files are eventually deleted, or are they going to occupy space until it can no longer function?
SoftEther has a function, that may or may not be working, intended to leave a specified amount of free disk space by deleting log files.

The SoftEther manual, section
3.3.11 Automatic Adjustment when Disk Space is Insufficient
states
"For Linux and UNIX systems, the disk quota space is not utilized. Therefore, please note that there is a high probability that the automatic disk space adjustment function is not working properly when the disk quota is set on UNIX systems."

I'm unable to find log files in  \\NASnodeName\Volume_1\Nas_Prog\SoftetherVPN\
so are they actually kept on the hard drive or in the NAS's (limited) own memory?

You can create a script that deletes the logs. To run the script from CRON (e.g. addon vtCron).

Code: [Select]
