DSR-500N failover issue
« on: November 17, 2011, 09:51:32 PM »

I have a strange DSR-500N failover issue. When connected on both WAN1 and WAN2, it takes nearly 4 minutes incase of a failover. After extensive testing I somewhat managed to conclude that if there is any session which is going on, it fails to perform a successive failover (possibly due to some NAT issue). If there are absolutely no sessions going on (not even a ping) only then it manages within 30secs or so (but I cannot conclude the exact time as if i ping and the failover isnt complete then it takes more than 2 mins). Has anyone else experienced the same problem where it takes as long as 4 mins for a failover or am I going wrong with my configurations?

Firmware Version: 1.03B43_WW

Thanks

i have the same problem on my DSR 1000N

Firmware Version: 1.03B43_WW

Settings are as follows,

Auto Roll Over Mode WAN 1,
Ping Retries if WAN goes down,

Retry Interval is: 5
Failover after: 5

WAN 1 is 100Mbs Optus Link
Wan 2 is ADSL 2 + Dlink Modem in Bridged Mode using PPPoE on the DSR 1000N

I kindly ask, if there is a problem with the Firmware, Can you pretty please add an extra function that leaves WAN 2 on in this mode? or Auto Fail Over in Round Robin would perfect!!

honestly guys, i have been a customer for 10 years, i have some of the best gear from you, i just really hope that my suggestion gets considered in the next firmware update..

i am not a big tech buff, but if this funtion didnt get added, is there a way to get 2 routers to work together so that fail over still works and external traffic can still be routed in?

cheers
