« on: May 07, 2012, 06:43:47 AM »

Hi everybody,

I'm in my new house and i have really big problem whit my connection on my computer and same thing for computer of my girlfriend. Here's the problem.

My house have 2 floor and 1 basement. Everything are on the wall of my basement, Dir 601, modem.
So on my laptop on the first floor, everything is fine and work great but on the desktop computer on the second floor, the signal is good but the connection is so poor! And sometimes the network adapter loose the signal and my router is no more in the list!! Why?? i have try to take off the router and put off the wall but same problem! What i can do if i can't put my router in another place? Change some setup in my router??? Reset my router to factory mode???

Thanks for you're help!

It's recommended that you move the 601 to a more central location in your house or where your going to be needing the WiFi the most. Having it in the basement is not a great location as the signal to the 1st and most upper floors will be degraded. Having the router placed on the 1st floor would help greatly. Alos you can try changing from Mixed All modes to Single mode G and see how the signal does. For multi floor buildings, maybe the addition of a DAP wireless extending device would also be a good suggestions, i.e. DAP-1360, 1522 or 1525. You need good signal where your needing it and having it come from the basement isn't the best configuration or placement for devices that need signal on the 1st and 2nd floors.  ::)
