Title: Smtp.gmail.com stopped working properly
Post by: tcessna on October 24, 2013, 10:15:55 AM
I currently have my DCS-7010L camera configured to send an email to my Gmail account for each motion detection event. As noted below, my event setup configuration worked over the last few months until it stopped working on October 17th.  Previously, I received a 5 MG video of each motion event.  Now, I only receive a 50 K video (about half a second worth of video).  I made no changes to my setup prior to October 17th.

I have the following configuration (copied from engkong's previous forum post):

Sender email address:   xxxxx@gmail.com
Recipient email address:   xxxxx@gmail.com
Server address: smtp.gmail.com
User name:   xxxxx@gmail.com
Password:   xxxxxxx
Port:   587
This server requires a secure connection (StartTLS)    <Selected>

I am currently running the latest firmware 1.02.00.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Have you power cycled the cam?

Cool. Seen small files generated when ftping on my 2132l.. not sure what causes it to gum up.

UPDATE:

Even after unplugging the power to the camera and removing the Ethernet cable from the wireless router, I have had mixed successes on receiving motion detection emails with video files larger than a 50 k file.  Since 11/14/2013 to 12/1/2013, I have received 118 motion detection emails with 85 of them containing a proper video file (~72% hit rate). There is no obvious pattern on why these errors continue to occur.  I currently have the fastest internet speed allowed by Time Warner.  My only limitation with my current camera setup is that I am not able to easily access the reset button on the camera to properly restart the camera.

My next line of attack is to reduce the size of the motion event file from a max of 5 MB to 3 MB.
