Can not access GUI on DNR 202L
« on: October 09, 2015, 05:15:02 AM »

Since the issue with "revoked certificates" I have not been able to access the GUI on my DNR-202L.  When I go to the 202 webpage I get the "revoked certificate" message and when I click on the gear icon nothing happens.  I reset the 200 to default and downloaded the latest installer and firmware update (v 2.02.00).  I was able to set the 202 up with the installer and am able to see it on MyDlink. I however can not update the firmware from the MyDlink site nor can I access the GUI from the 202 webpage.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
John

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email or FB> https://www.facebook.com/mydlink?fref=ts.
Let us know how it goes please.

Under Windows 10, Firefox and Chrome do not allow the execution of the Java plugin to run due to a certificate issue (D-Link is working on this).  Try using IE version 11  and make sure to allow the execution of Java when asked.
You should be able click the "double-gear" looking icon to get to "Firmware Upgrade" under the Maintenance section on the left panel.

let us know if you still have issues.  Thanks!

I use FF but tried using IE11.  When I do that it asks to install ActiveX, if I click ok Win10 won't let it install because it comes from an untrusted source.  Java does not appear to run either even though JRE is enabled.  I still can not access the GUI when I press the gear on the left side.  As an aside, I know the DNR-202 is functioning and recording because I can access the video on my IPhone using DLink NVR.  Is something in the browser stopping access to the 202 tools page?

Sorry to heard that did not work for you, there is always the mydlink portal, although this may not be the best way to do this, is still a viable option.

- Login to the mydlink.com portal
- Select the DNR-202L from the list. The page should come up with a message regarding firmware upgrade needed. Follow the instructions there.
- The process takes about 10 mins, depending  on your internet connection.

The moment you upgrade the firmware, you should be able to install the Active X in IE 11 or run Java in FF

Let us know if it works.

I've tried numerous times to install the firmware update from the MyDlink site but each time after about 10 minutes I get a message that "Update Failed".

What browser are you using for doing FW updates? I recommend either IE or FF and be sure to disable any PC security software as well including any browser add-ons as these can interfere with the update process.

Thanks for your response.  I tried what you suggested using FF and IE11 but to no avail.  The firmware will not install from the MyDlink site!

I worked around the issue by installing and older version of Java. Version Java 7 update 55. I have not tried newer to test if it works but I am now able to see live view, motion detection grid or anything related to Java.
Some IP Cameras donīt have a firmware update to solve this problem. I think.
Hope this helps...

Thank you for the information. D-Link is aware of these issues and is working hard to resolve them. I presume that the next FW update will resolve this and users should be able to use the most current Java software or plug-in available. Please be patient while they work on getting it resolved. If users are needed immediate help and information, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Here is another way of bypassing the browser update process. This is even useful for those of you who may temporarily have bricked your unit trying to get access due to a number of resets.

How do I manually update the firmware on my DNR-202L

Thanks to some collected feedback, D-Link support made some adjustments to the the USB stick upgrade process to ensure it's success, please give a run once more making sure to follow the FAQ steps.

Again did not work!  How long should it take the update to install? When I started the process per instructions I noticed that the red light never flashed but  came on solid immediately.  I released the scan button and noticed the led on the USB stick blinked several times but the red light stayed solid.  I left the USB stick in and left the unit for about 15 minutes. When I returned the red light was still solid.  I then removed the USB stick and reconnected it to my network. I had to use the setup program for the unit and after that I still got the message re: java and still could not access the tools menu.  When I viewed the USB stick on explorer I noticed an avdata folder had been installed on it by the unit.  Any more suggestions!
