Shareport for ps3

hello,
   I just bought this router and i have my harddrive connected to the usb port of the router and i have that drive marked as shared on my computer i have no problems accessing the files on my computer from my ps3 but since this one is networked im wondering if theres anyway to play media straight from the shareport drive to the ps3 any suggestions?

Don't think you can access the usb device without the software. So I guess the answer would be no.

Well ya but im trying to bridge it over through my pc to my ps3 since files on my pc are shared anyone else have any suggestions im trying to make a video playlist with the files in media player ill post back to see if that worked since i can c video playlists on my ps3

no go could it be because its ntfs would that effect streaming i know it would affect a hard wired connection since ps3 will only read fat32

As you can see ive spent hours on this doesnt help im new to ps3 as well but i fixed my problem TVersity worked wonders :) takes a while to load all of my movies but works like a charm when its done

No it would not. 

I myself cant check due to the f/w for both the dgl-4500 and shareport are buggy for me.

Are you the only one who needs access to the HDD thats connected to the dgl-4500 usb?

You can try PS3 Media Server. It's not as flashy as Tversity. You can access everything on your machine and its faster. I prefer PS3 Media Server over tversity. its located here http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/list . I'm not at home at the moment so I haven't tried using it with sharport, but I will asap.

Nice man. I've been using MediaTomb on Ubuntu and Windows Media Player for Windows. This transcodes .mkv's quite well with no stutter even on 1080p files (802.11n network w/PS3 on N bridge served by a Q6600 desktop for transcode.)
