Reservation for linux machines
« on: November 10, 2014, 04:07:56 AM »

Hi All,

I have dir 600l router and I am able to create ip reservation for my windows machines. But when I start my linux machines(centos, redhat etc), the machine gets the ip address and in my lansetup page in router's configuration page, it shows the ip address but the hostname column shows only two dashes(like --). I tried to give some random name like linux1, linux2 etc, it didnt work. Can someone tell me how to reservation for a linux machine in dir 600l router?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Are the host names on the Linux PCs have valid hostname values?
It maybe that the router can't detect the host name values while using Linux...

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Hi,

Hardware version is B1. Firmware version: 2.04. I am in india(Hyderabad)

Yes. Linux machines have valid hostnames. No special characters or nothing. I use IE 11 and chrome browsers. I think ad-block extension needs to be installed in IE11, I didnt install it before. In chrome I have unchecked the boxes you mentioned and tried but no luck. I logged in as admin user to the box. Here is the link to my configuration page. Excuse me for giving link, I am new to this site and didnt find any option to upload image here. http://oi59.tinypic.com/15rjjip.jpg. You notice two dashes(--) to the last entry which is my linux vm. I also tried to update the firmware version over the path maintenance, firmware update.  it says ,

FIRMWARE INFORMATION

Current Firmware Version  :2.04
Current Firmware Date  : Tue 15 Oct 2013
Check Online Now for Latest Firmware Version :
Your system does not require an update at this time.

In the site support.dlink.com, if I select dir 600l and model B, it says 2.17 is the lastest firmware available, but when I check manually in the router, it gives me above message that no update is required at this time.

Hi,

My firmware version is 2.04 but h/w version is B1. In support site i dont see B1. I m checking it in link, http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-600L. select version B from the dropdown. I also see US at the top of this site, is it applicable for indian users? If i click on the firmware(2.17) option dropdown in the above link, I see links for B2 and B2. But not for B1. So, can I download that 2.17 version and update? or will it corrupt my device with wrong update?

Do not use v2.17 from the NA web site. It's for the NA region and your region is different. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
