Speed Upgrade = Router Downgrade
« on: August 08, 2015, 04:50:02 PM »

Well, I've actually been having close to zero issues with my DGL-5500 since updating to 1.13b4 back in April. A few instances of not seeing my devices listed in Active Devices, but nothing a router reset didn't fix. ABE had my US/DS perfect, and speeds across all my devices were great, and for the most part in line with my 30Mbps/5Mbps advertised speeds.

Yesterday morning my ISP (Time Warner) enabled my new MAXX speeds (200Mbps/20Mbps). This morning I noticed that I was not seeing these speed increases on any of my devices - including my wired PC.

First thing I tried was a direct connection between my Arris DG1670A modem and my PC. Ran the speed tests at speedtest.net and the Time Warner speed test, and it accurately reflected my speed increase.

I factory reset my DGL-5500 (following the steps always outlined by FurryNutz) and the bandwidth test upon setup only came back around 30Mbps down, but the up speeds were ~20Mbps. Now, it looks like the ABE is still in "Testing" mode, and as of right now it's showing ~80Mbps down (up is still correct).

I guess my question is - is this normal behavior? As in it's been testing for about 10 hours now. Will leaving it testing eventually get it up to my 200Mbps speeds?

Ya, not sure about ISP speeds over 100Mb on this router...Have to look in to some prior threads on this...
I presume the ISP modem is bridge? It is a gateway modem.  ::)

What happens if you disable SB and ABE?  ???

Modem is in bridge mode, yep. First thing I did when they sent it to me a few weeks ago.

I haven't yet tried disabling SB and ABE. I think I'll try it now and see what happens. I'd hate to have to go to whatever crappy wireless the Arris has built in to it.

Well if you have to use the Arris as your main host router, you could use the 5500 as a wired AP. Mine is.  ::)

After some fiddling around using the Arris as my router, I've gone back to my 5500. I just could not get my Xbox One to have Open NAT with it, even after reserving the IP and port forwarding to it.

So I shut off SB and ABE and I'm getting the advertised speeds to my wired PC, and decent speeds to my wireless devices. I might turn on SB and ABE at a later date, just to test it out some more, but as of right now everything is working a-ok.

Try SB with out ABE or try manual ABE values...
