Yes the 160 adapter is 5Ghz supporting. You need a 5Ghz supporting WiFi router or AP to broadcast the signal.

What region are you located?

What Mfr and model # is the mais how router?

What wireless modes are you using on 5Ghz?
What security modes are you using on 5Ghz? Temporarily disable WPA security on the 5Ghz radio and see if the adapter will connect to the router. Re-enable after testing.
Does the Adapter work with other 5Ghz routers, say at a friend or families place?

Try adapter on different Windows 7 PC or Laptop?
Fully remove the drivers from of the PC and re-install using drivers from D-Links support web page.
If adapter is working on Linux and connecting, then adapter is working.
