Title: Suggestions for mkv. conversion for 520?
Post by: Raycaster on January 07, 2008, 08:34:29 PM
I just received a 520 unit and am anxious to hook it up to my new 42" LCD.

Due to the fact there is no x.264 or mkv support does anyone have suggestions for conversion programs?

I have alot of mkv files that I would like to view via the 520 or I might as well just continue to use the pc for video viewing.

I read somewhere that someone was using Microsoft Movie Maker for easy conversions to WMV HD which the 520 can view.

Thank you for your time.

I've been begging for support of MKV and x264 files for the DSM-520 as well.

Sadly I've had to convert everything loosing some quality.

I've had alot of success using a program called AutoMKV, seems to be the most powerful and refined of the ones I've tried. The program does let you fine turn everything, so it may scare off those used to one click conversions.

Thank you for the reply.

I posted this same question on vcdhelp.com and the avsforums with no answers.

Microsoft Media Encoder crashes when I try to convert to wmvhd so....
I also couldn't do it with Dr.Divx etc...

I tried a ton of apps with no luck.

I've used AutoGK for years so AutoMkv here I come!
