Does the latest driver from here work?

I am also unable to install the drivers on OS 10.11. The adapter was working when I upgraded my MacBook Pro (early-2011) from 10.10 to 10.11, but then I decided to do a clean installation and the installer stops working when I get to the 'Select Destination' step. I think the installer's scripts are doing a version-check and even though the drivers work with 10.11 its version number is outside the scripted parameters. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the version-checking to change. Heck, I wouldn't mind moving things around manually if I could unpack the components and knew where they went.

I recommend applying OSX over currently installed OSX version which can be done and is supported. I still have installed OSX on top of each other since 10.4 days. ::)

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email or FB> https://www.facebook.com/mydlink?fref=ts.
Let us know how it goes please.

[SOLVED]
Hey everyone, I managed to make it work.
I used Pacifist to extract the installer's content.
I got a few kext and the Wireless-AC Network Utility
Or you can open the installer by yourself and install each .pkg using Pacifist, which you can download here

Please do not post links to FW or SW to un-official web sites.
User will need to make contact with there regional D-Link support office to inquire about El Capitan driver support for the DWA-171.
Thank you.
