I'm open to suggestions, btw.  :)

Oh, I thought you were pinging your gateway, nevermind.  These are the IP's I usually ping in order from closest to furthest to isolate a issue:

127.0.0.1
192.168.0.1
192.168.100.1
Default gateway (found on the DGL-4500 Status page)
8.8.8.8
Google.com

You should get under 20ms all the way up to 8.8.8.8, which is going to depend where you live.  Also, don't just do a normal ping, make it at-least 25 packets

Ping -n 25 <IP or domain>

Hmmmm, what if I don't get <20ms?  I'm not getting that and does cable internet make a difference?  I'm getting about 30 something.  :(

Also, did I read that we set our wireless adapter's MTU or is it just the router?  I'm really confused now.

I did some more digging around and found an MTU tool.  I used it to set my desktop at 1500 MTU and look what it gave me:

Ahh so your jitter is fine. Cool. Looks like a good connection. Any issues?

Ahh, cool.  Nope, no issues that I can see, just trying to optimize.   ;D

Have any of you guys changed out the wifi card in a laptop?  I have a lower end Lenovo that uses a Broadcom G band but was wondering if it was possible to install a G/N band one?

I would like to try it more for tinkerings sake not that I'm having any issues with the setup now.

I haven't no, but I know those that have. You probably want to look up the laptops maintenance manual. It will go over everything from cleaning out the heat sink, to changing the wireless card. What is your laptop's model number?

Kewl. They are most like memory sticks, same kind of slot configuration. Just have to make sure it will support it and has the drivers. Easy PnP installation.  ;)

Nice!  It doesn't come with drivers but I found some on the Intel website.  One is 8mb and the other is 40mb.

If that doesn't work Intel also has driver update utility and I'll go wired to it then run it.  I'm all ready for it now!

I found both the mini PCI card and the 3 internal antennas for under $20 total, shipped.  If it doesn't work, no big loss, I'll just resell them on ebay, I guess.

Re: Great deal on 23" HD monitor
« Reply #628 on: August 22, 2011, 02:10:06 PM »

Hey to let you know I order 2 of these monitors last week and they arrived Sat. Both in outstanding new refurbished condition and work wonderful. Funny out they covered up the HP logo in back and replaced the HP sticker in front. Oh well, nice monitor for $125 shipped.

Thank you Karl, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

I don't remember, bro.  It was about a year and a half ago.  Woot is weird.  Sometimes stuff comes in about a week, sometimes it takes 2 or 3, depending on who's selling.

Be on the look out for more deals. In about a month I think the market is going to be flooded with HP gear that retailers are selling to 3rd parties because they pulled it from their shelves since it no longer offers support.
