Title: Upgrading HDD

Hi,

I'm planning doing an upgrade to the main HDD on slot "a". My issue is that I have transmission and what to backup it before so I won't lose any data?
How can I do this? How do I backup transmission config files so I won't loose the current torrent's I have?

I presume copy those config files off to a PC some place before putting them back on to the new drive?

Hi,

Disk is arriving next week, I've searched and saw that I only need to backup the config directory of transmission, and restore is back to the new hard drive. I guess it won't be that much dificult...

Hi,

Just finished replacing disk and everything is ok.
Made a backup of transmission config directory and restored it after I install transmission again in the new HD. When i started up transmission every torrent was like in the old disk.

• What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
• Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
• What region are you located?

How is your DNS configured currently? How many drives are installed?

1) backup any data you don't want to lose to either, space on a computer hard disk, or a USB disk (note the DNS-320L only has a USB 2 interface.
1a) if you have been backing up your data make sure the backup is up to date and readable.

2) check that the firmware will accept the larger hard disks (you need two for RAID 1).  If it doesn't, update it.

3) shut down the DNS-320L and unplug the power connector.

4) remove the disks (mark which slot they come from just in case)

5) insert new disks and power up the box.

6) use a browser to access the NAS web interface (example enter http://192.168.0.32 as the browser address - use the IP that you gave the NAS at setup) don't forget your password.

7) click on the 'Management' tab and then 'Disk Management' on the left and then 'Hard Drive Configuration' and finally the 'Set RAID Type and Re-Format' button.

8) after the disk array is formatted restore your data from your backup.
