Camera's Offline in Multi-view
« on: July 29, 2018, 02:21:58 PM »

Has anyone else noticed a issue with the new Mydlink app where you start it and some cameras are shown offline but if you go into settings - devices and then back out to the main screen and go into multi-view they are now all online.  It's 100% repeatable on both my iPhone and iPad (speaking of iPad a native iPad app would be nice).

I have 12 cameras with a combination of DCS-8525LH, DCS-8000LH and DCS-5030L and I can get this issue to happen every single time.  I can try and do a video capture of it if it might help but it is clearly a bug in the software.  The first 5 will show up online and the remaining 7 will not until you go into the settings.

Ok, I've passed this on to D-Link for review.
There any way you can temporarily turn OFF say half of these cameras and test to see if the multi view shows the other half as being off line or online?

I am having a tech test this today. Hopefully I will have a response by tomorrow.

The cameras still function normally?

And I assume you are getting red "no" symbol (circle with a slash through it) on the Control > Camera screen and/or the Settings > Device screen? Or is it only in the multiview screen?

Unless I uninstall the cameras it doesn't seem to make a difference (aka just unplugging them) because they still show in the app.  I've tried to attach a few pics of them offline but I can't seem to in the forum tool.   The offline is the grey circle with the line and all you have to do is go to the device page and then back out and they no longer show offline in multimode or shortcut.  You don't even have to select a camera in devices but just go to that page and all the offline cameras are back.  Please let me know if you want me to email the screen shots to you.  Also I am happy to test any update you might have, I have TestFlight already installed (I was a IT Architect and now IT instructor so no problem with beta software).  Restarting the app does bring the same condition back and the same fix in going into the device setting page fixes it so it's very consistent, also all camera firmware is up to date as well.

Now I also did discover something interesting, if you put all of the cameras in the shortcut menu they all show up online when you start the application.  But if you take any out of the shortcut menu those show up offline.  I just figured that out while I was typing this.

It's not related but one thing to consider when you select a camera and have the options below on the semi-circle it would be great to have the night-vision mode selector included.  Otherwise you have to hop thru hoops to get to it.

Hmm that first screen shot is strange. It is not displaying any info.

On the second screen shot, when you tap the offline camera does the video start?

I will check with the techs if they tested this yet. I will answer back today.

Also what is the exact version of the app?

Nope you can't start the camera by selecting it, the only way is to go into the devices screen which "refreshes" the camera.  It's kind of like the shortcut menu, once that connection is made then it seems to work fine.  The app is version 1.2.1 Build 99 on a iPhone 7+ iOS 11.4.1

I sent you a PM. If you can make a video with the screen capturing feature that would be very helpful.

Recording done and I sent the link to the email you sent me.  I ran through both the cams offline when they are not in the shortcut menu and then how it works when they are in the shortcut menu, hopefully this helps!

Thanks for sending that.  I just saw the video. Definitely a glitch. I will test Android tomorrow morning to see if I get the same behavior.

Hopefully all other functionality works and you just have to deal with the annoying go-here-then-there to view your cameras for a little bit.

Happy to help!  Looking forward to a fix, otherwise outside of a native iPad version (hint hint) it's a really nice step up from the old app.  I just hope you can include the night vision selector on the quick select for each camera.  The only other odd thing I noticed is the order of the camera's is not consistent.  While you can set them in order for the multi-view that has no effect on the shortcut menu or which one pops up first.  It would be great if it would or at least give you the option to set that order as well.
