Motion detection mail
« on: December 12, 2011, 09:35:13 AM »

I don't understand why, but the motion detection mail doesn't work...
The mail is ok because the test was good.
I set the motion detection to 100% and the area to check but I don't receve any mail....
The firmware is 1.02....
Any idea?

Thanks

Did you validate that motion detection is enabled and mail functionality is enabled under the following pages in the web interface?

  • SETUP > Mail > TIME SCHEDULE
  • SETUP > Motion Detection

Really thank you for your answer!

I checked:
-the motion detection is enabled

-In the mail page I've 3 options:
1) always... (I recive a mail every 300 seconds...)
2) Schedule
3) motion detection
     a) E-mail motion frame immediately
     b) E-mail attached with 6 frames (3 frames before and 3 frames after motion frame)
I tried 3a or 3b but no mail... with 1 I recive a mail every 300 seconds... with 2 dipens on the day and hour... but I need to recive only on motion detection....

any idea?

Thanks a lot

When you configured the motion detection on the web interface, did you click the areas where you wanted to monitor for motion? If so, try selecting nothing, which should use the whole field by default.

I'm running out of options here ???

Try changing the sensitivity percentage. The odd thing is that email is working for the other options. A good number of users of this camera experience the opposite problem -- receiving too many emails using motion detection. ???

No problem. . . BTW, you may also want to update the DCs-932L firmware as well.

I've read the posts by Guido & JavaLawyer.

I have repeatedly tried to set up Email notification of images upon Motion Detection with my DCS-932L camera with NO success.
My ISP is Time Warner Cable Road Runner.
I have spoken with them (my email provider) to get their proper settings:

  • SMTP Server Address: smtp-server.carolina.rr.com
  • SMTP Server Port: 110
  • Both the Sender & Receiver E-mail Addresses are my own.
  • User Name & Password are my own.
  • Use SSL-TLS is set to No
  • Enable emailing images to email account checked

I have saved these settings. When I click the TEST button to send a test e-mail to my account, then go to > STATUS > Device Info,
it says "Testing", but when I refresh, it says "Can not connect to SMTP server."

Can anyone help?
Tony

I solved my problem even if i didn't understand why it didn't work...

To solve the problem I reinstalled the camera....

I think is not a good idea enter in the camera setup via internet.... i think is bette setup directly from the pc connected to the camera....

ciao

I'm glad everything worked out. As you pointed out, it's always best to perform setup activities via the web interface through your LAN. By your reference to the "Internet", I presume you mean mydlink.
