Different firmware
« on: March 06, 2016, 11:39:39 PM »

Hello, my router comes with my ISP firmware...the firmware is very limited and lacks a lot of options...I connect via PPPoP with my user name and password...Its not plug and play ACS router.
My question is: if I flash the standard firmware of the same region, would this brick my router?
Thanks

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

If the router came from your ISP or was installed by your ISP, you'll need to refer to there support and help information regarding it. ISPs occasionally use OEM HW and use there own FW on OEM hardware and is developed and supported by the ISP. Loading other FW on the ISPs router may void any warranties with them and violate there use policies regarding there equipment. If the router belongs to the ISP, I recommend that you return the router and buy your own retail version of the 868L. It's a very good router. If you own the router then you might be able to use OEM FW.

Thanks for your reply....I'm in Dubai and I bought my router from my ISP, paid in cash for it...it does not belong to them...I'm not worried about the warranty..it has expired. There is another universal firmware on D-Link website in my region..would I brick my router if I installed that firmware?

Download the FW from your regional D-Link support site then follow the recovery process to apply then OEM fw. Follow the process. This should get OEM FW on the router.

If you see v1.07, load that version first and test. Hope it goes well.
