DCS-930L Email No Longer Working
« on: August 11, 2016, 10:27:31 AM »

Well actually the email is apparently working because if I lose power to a device I do get an email notification that the device was disconnected although that may be coming from D-link servers itself.

My email has stopped working for motion a few months back.  The same configuration worked fine a while back with no changes on my end except for some firmware uploads.

Here are my camera particulars:

DCS-930L
Fimrware:  1.1.5.04
Hardware:  A

I have setup the email as follows:

SMPT server address: smtp.gmail.com
Server port: 465
Sender e-mail address: <MyUsername@gmail.com>
Receiver e-mail address: <MyUsername@gmail.com>
User Name: <MyUsername@gmail.com>
Password: Just entered my gmail password
Checked: SSL-TLS

As mentioned this was working previously a few months back... tried various configurations and all.

When I test email I get back:

E-mail Test:   Invalid username/password

The only thing I didnt do is setup as per another topic here in this DCS-930L by fuzzynutz is setup 2 step password for gmail.  I didnt have to do this before and the documentation here at D-Link doesnt indicate that is required.

Again this was working previously only thing I did was upgrade firmware.

Any suggestions?  Is the 2 step password really a hard requirement in order to get email picture notifications back?

Might have to do the 2 step and see...

You must go to the Google > My Account > Sign-in and Security page. Scroll down that page and you will see "Connected apps & sites" section. You will find "Allow less secure apps:" - change that to "ON". This Google setting is "OFF" by default."

There were security fixes in recent FW updates.  ::)
