DCS-920 - Wireless... So frustrating !
« on: February 08, 2010, 07:50:08 AM »

So, after getting it replaced (see previous thread), I now have a working DCS-920 - providing it is wired into my home network.

I just can't get a wireless connection up - even though I have my laptop, iphones, Wii and so on all working fine wirelessly...

Is there any way to actually trouble shoot what is going on ?

Anyone have any hints ?  How can I find out if the wireless is defective ???

I presently am using a static IP and I can see the camera using a web browser and also with the DLink Wizard. I am not trying to access via the internet etc - just local network issues at present...

When you run the site survey in the camera wireless settings do you see your networks wireless SSID name?

Well, the SSID name listed is the one for the camera as you would expect.
There is no place in the cameras wireless settings to show the WAP's SSID name ???

As shown in the manual (p40), it also shows there is no link.

I have also tried changing the router settings to have no security but that made no difference either....

So - connect via ethernet and I can connect and access the cameras web server page (camera has green LED) but if I go wireless, I can't see the camera at all.

I think what ECF is meaning are the DISCOVERED SSID's by the DCS-920's webpages in the wireless section. Called "Site Survey" in the Wireless setup. It should list all visible SSID's (including yours, unless you made your SSID invisible). Also your security (None, WEP, WPA/WPA2) must match, but I am telling you things you already know...

The WAP's SSID name should be visible in the Discovered SSID's (Site survey) like all reachable/visible Wireless Routers/Access Points...

Unclear what seems to be missing...

OK !!!

All is resolved.  I must say that this section of the documentation is a bit lacking IMHO...

Now I just have to configure the software I am using (Evocam on the Mac)...

Thanks for your help !
