guest wifi access but dhcp run from a server.
« on: April 21, 2015, 05:05:50 PM »

Hello,

I need to provide guest wifi access to the internet.  I am running the DSR-250N.
I have an internal LAN with a server running DHCP.  the 250 has dhcp off.

How can I setup a wifi on the 250 where client wireless devices can only access the internet and NOT the local LAN.

Thanks.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

You might check for a wireless LAN partition or GUEST ZONE LAN access feature or option in the UI. Some routers may have this feature to allow or not allow access the LAN side resources. I would review the user manual to see what this model router has.

Hello,

The WLAN partition is on.  it is described as:
WLAN Partition: Check this box to create a separate virtual network for each wireless connection. When this feature is enabled, each of your wireless clients will be in its own virtual network and will not be able to communicate with other clients.

what am I missing.

Thanks.

Ok thats a feature that prevents connecting any wireless clients on the LAN side.

Is there any features or options under guest zone that may say enable LAN access while in GZ? If not, then maybe by default, any one connected in GZ doesn't have access to LAN side resources...
