I used to be able to set static IP addresses for systems on my local lan, however, this "simplified' user interface doesn't seem to have anything like that.
If this is really the case then this thing has to go back. I need port forwarding to one of my systems and if that system keeps changing IP addresses when it reboots then it's just crazy.
DLINK - What are you doing? I THOUGHT this was going to be a great router but am very UNIMPRESSED with this new user interface 100%...

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.

Static IP addresses are set ON the devices themselves. Reserving IP addresses is done ON the router using the device icon on the connected devices page. Select the pencil with the mouse and then you can set a reservation there for each device. >DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0)
The UI is new and more simplified and not as advanced as the old UI. Port Forwarding can be done though. Sorry if the UI doesn't meet your needs. It was D-Link is going to be using going forward I believe. I'm enjoying my 890L. ;D

DIR-895L HW:A1 FW:1.00 Is on the router's web page when I access it.
Of course - I know all about static and dynamic IP's... I wrote IP Router code back in the 90's, so I'm not exactly a neophyte.
Ah... I see, I just have to add another device and put in the reserved IP address. Ok - fairly easy.
But I still really dislike this new "simpler" UI. I'm going to have to give serious thoughts to sending it back. And the limits they have - 24 of the various items, what an artificially low limit for a $400+ router. I think almost any $200 router will do the same just almost as well... Disappointing because I used to like D-Link a lot.

Well D-Link does have some good routers. I'm enjoying the 890L. For what they are they are just routers. I don't know the reasons for the simpler UI. I'm sure there was some kind of reasoning behind it. For me it works well. I miss other features like wireless connection rates which was more helpful than some other advanced features that I really didn't use. I'm sure you'll need to weigh your options. Having the latest AC class router isn't always an advantage. You need the HW to really make use of what the newer AC class routers offer. I'm barely using what I have with the 890L and 880L now. ::)
