Title: Smart Connect...
Post by: bimo on December 17, 2015, 03:00:26 PM
Very disappointed in this router. Had it for two days and switching back to my DIR-880L.

When I set the Smart Connect to enable and connect my iPhone 6S, it connects on the 5Ghz band. If I leave the 5Ghz range, it switches to 2.4Ghz. When I return to the 5Ghz range, the iPhone only connects to the 2.4Ghz band.

I’ve reset my network settings on the iPhone and when I try to reconnect to the router, I can’t. It keeps saying “wrong password” for the SID.
I have to go back in to the router and disable the Smart Connect before the iPhone will connect to the SID, which are the same and identical password.

With the 880L, I can go down the street or downtown and when I return within range of the router, I’m on 5Ghz.

Definitely big problems with the 885L.

Do you have any other 5Ghz devices you an test with?
How are you determining the frequency on the iPhone?

The firmware is out of the box 1.00 NA. There are no updates.
I test it with another iPhone 6 and a MBP.
Just look in the router's "Connected Devices" and it shows what freq are being used for each device.

And all devices exhibit this issue?

I see they added connection frequency on the page. Good to see that.

I've passed this onto D-Link for review.

Any status on this? v1.10 is out and seems to be working. I demo'd this unit.
