Title: How to extend wireless coverage with DAP1522?
Post by: taeleebr on April 08, 2009, 03:04:35 PM
Hi,

I already have DIR-825 as my main router. I want add the DAP-1522 as an additional access point in a room that has poor signal. How should I do it?
Run a ethernet cable from the 825 to 1522 and what? Should I config the 1522 with same ssid of the 825?
Any info would be much appreciated...if possible a step by step help would be great!

Thanks Guys!!!

If your DIR-825 is on his factory address of 192.168.0.1 just connect your DAP from LAN 1 to a LAN port of the router.
Set the switch on its back to AP and power it on.
Wait until it started (needs some time longer than the DIR)

Open the Internet Explorer and open http://192.168.0.50
Login with admin and leave the password empty.
Open the Setup/Wireless menu and fill in the same settings as in the DIR-825
Open the Setup / Network Settings menu and add 192.168.0.1 as Gateway

Additional you can set QoS rules in the Advanced menu and the device time under Maintenance.
Save the settings and restart the device.
That should be all.

That's one expensive switch.

Wonder how it would work as a wireless bridge signal/speed wise?  I had some dead zones before I went wired.  I used WRT54Gs as access points (same subnet) for the kids PCs/XBoxes and got full speed from a Netgear wrt624G with stock firmware power.

I'd like to have a DAP-1522 as a N access point - been looking for recert or rebate - but there are none - guess that says something about the unit.  I think it is too expensive although it is N and Gb LAN.
