Motion Detection - DCS-920
« on: October 28, 2009, 04:00:52 PM »

It seems my DCS-920 is constantly seeing motion when no motion exists! I have the sensitivity down to 5% and the percentage at 5% (though I don't know what percentage is for).

My problem is that I record the video when motion is detected, and want it to record for 30 seconds and then stop. With it being constantly protected, I'm eating up disk space unnecessarily.

Help!

I am using the latest firmware version and the latest version of dviewcam.

What version of D-ViewCam are you running? Also what size area are you covering for a motion detection area of the picture?

Version 2.03. I have two squares covered (if I'm doing it right). When I mouse over the image, a square with an X is displayed. I'm assuming that those squares is where it will attempt motion detection.

Can I get some support here, otherwise this camera is useless.

Try filling the whole screen and set the percentage to about 80 and sensitivity to 10 percent.

No luck, it's still just constantly recording. I have the schedule set to 24/7 Economic Recording.

Please try disabling recording and try event recording on motion detection.

Ok, I've done that. Set the entire window as the detection area, set the sensitivity to 10% and frequency to 80%. I've enabled record on the motion detection event only (and turned off the scheduled one).

It's still recording constantly. Anything else I can try?

Have you tried it on another PC or tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, the software seems to glitching. Also there is a 2.04 version of the software if you search under the DCS-1100 or 1130 on the support site you may want to try out.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it's working. Strange. Thanks for the tip.
