ip address changing?
« on: May 26, 2015, 12:11:23 PM »

Hello. my wife just had this message: "another is using the ip address 192.1...... try use another ip address or restart the computer" ?

Should i be concerned? Does the router switch ip addresses randomly or could it be someone trying to hack our network?  I recently updated
the firmware on my 868L to the latest firmware and after the update the only device that changed ip address was my diskstation nas.

  • Setup >DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. You can set devices like NAS, printers, sensors and cameras to static IP addresses outside of the routers default IP address pool.

Select the DHCP link in my earlier reply and that will show you information about reserving IP addresses...  ;D
