Title: In and Out Wifi
Post by: Jvadood on January 11, 2012, 07:22:13 PM
I just got my Router today and all is setup, most everything seemed straight forward nothing I haven't delt with in the past etc. The internet is working great and things seem great wired. However WiFi is another story. It seems when I try to connect anything it will show up for about 1-2 seconds and then disappears, it also shows up live on D-Links Config page at the moment your doing the connecting. I also noticed some of the devices themselves some wont connect and others are in the same game with the on and off.

Heres what Ive got

Router DIR-827 H/W: A1 F/w 1.01

Itouch - sees device but refuses connection (nothing live in config screen during it)
2 Android Phones - connects about 1-2 seconds (also shows up live in config page for 1-2 seconds)
HP laptop - sees device but refuses connection (nothing live in config during it)

Things Ive read and tried...

Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.  Done
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. Done
Make sure uPnP is enabled under Advanced/Networking if you have this option. Done
What wireless modes are you using? 2.4GHz 11bgn, Channel Width 20, WPA2, WIFI Protected Enabled / 5GHz 11an,  Channel Width 20/40, WPA2, WiFi Protected Enabled
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless. Done

I am using a different SSID name then I had with my old router which was a netgear. I even tried using the same info my netgear had to see if it would work and it didn't. So I'm wondering what else I'm missing. Thank you all in advanced.

Try setting up Mixed G and N modes on 2.4Ghz and try using WPA or WPA2 and TPIK only for Cipher. THen test with Auto TPIK and AES. Some devices don't support AES. Set 5Ghz to N mode only and AES only. If you don't have any devices that support 5ghz, you can turn it off.
