Please excuse my English as I live in Spain and English is not my mother language.

I had the same problems that most of you:

The AP stopped working properly once a day or two. Clients could connect to the AP, but the AP didn't connect to the wired network.

Another problem is that some clients didn't connect to the AP any more until a restart of the AP.

I had also periodic problems with dhcp.

As there are no new firmwares yet and most of you had made all sorts of setup combinations, there was a new one I think nobody had tried.

I use 3 of the 4 ssids this AP can manage, but there was only one thing I had not tried. The "Group Key Update Interval" was set the same in all ssids. I have changed them all (default was 1800), to 2400, 3000, 4200, 5400. I added the fourth ssid only to set its "Group Key Update Interval", then I deleted the ssid.

Now I have been 2 weeks without a single need to restart (switch off and on) the ap.

It manages a wifi printer, 2 android phones, a wii, 2 laptops, a tablet, an ip camera... and some laptops of some neighbours. There has been NO problems at all. The worst problem was the printer. It lost the connection every day, so I had to switch ap on an off. That problem has disappeared.

It seems that having the same "Group Key Update Interval" makes the ap to try to update it exactly at the some time, and it caused a leak of resources. I don't know the reason, but this was my last try before to get rid of it, tired of waiting for a solution from dlink.

Now my ap, 2 years after, does what it was supposed to do.

Regards.

So to clarify, what value are you currently using on these APs? Is there a particular value that your currently using?

Thanks for sharing. Hope this might help others...I'll pass this around.

Please keep us posted. Hope this helps in continued operation.

Main ssid 2400
ssid 1: 3000
ssid 2: 4200
ssid 3: 5400 (although I do not use this one and I have deleted it; I only created it to set this value)

I do not think it is the particular value. I think the solution comes to set a different one for each ssid. I set those values with no rule in mind.

Thank you. In fact now my ap works as I wanted: set it up and forget it.

And for the NTP server I use 130.149.17.8 (taken from the set up of my old 3Com AP), and it always get the correct date and time. As I have read here, this is a problem with 2553 too (I solved some time ago by using that NTP). And one of the clients of my 2553 is a 1522 and with this NTP it takes time properly too.

Good, so using a IP address of the NTP server is working for you.

Keep us posted. Thank you for the information.

One week after, all devices keep linked, and I have not restarted the ap any more. Devices go away (mobile phones, nintendo dsi...), back home, and reconnect without problems. What a pleasure!, after so much time with problems.

I think this settings have helped me, but perhaps other people with different needs (WDS...) may still have difficulties.

Dlink should release a new firmware for this product, as a supposed "pro" product.

(I have a DAP1522 too with its own problems, and I will not buy dlink ANY MORE).

What about us who have a 100% fail rate on all DAP-2553s, no matter the client and location, and they all fail after some time. And all but 1 don't use multiple SSIDs...

I fully agree - this doesn't seem like any "pro" support I have ever tried before...

I think that although you do not use multiple ssid, perhaps you should do what I did: add those multiple ssid to change the interval, and then delete the ssids. I think the system uses those settings, although there is no need to do it (more strange things I have seen).  ;D

This is a NA region only release. I'll try and find out if other regions will get it as well. Can try if you like, just not officially supported on other regions.

The file ends in WW, so it is worldwide version, and I have downloaded it from http://tsd.dlink.com.tw the global site.
