Thanks for posting.

Ya I only use IP reservations for all my devices accept for bridges or APs on the router always. They are static IPs. Yes this is a known thing with most D-Link routers not reporting Static IP assigned devices. There could be a reason why, not sure. Only has of late have I seen static IP addressed devices appear in the status list on some newer routers.

Have never had any issues with the 857 other wise and have enjoy it. I wish the DGL-5500 was the same. Still having problems on some things.

Ya I talked to D-Link about the 1533 and there is a known behavior problem with some devices not getting IP addresses from the main host router. Not sure if they will fix. Only seems to effect my Mac Book Pro and Xbox 360. I have been using mine in vertically. Seems to do well for the most part. I do like the static assignment on the 1533 and wish they would do the same for the 865L/868L in bridge mode, however will see. This also has been mentioned to D-Link.

I'm going to pass this along to D-Link as this seems to be a bad thing to happen with the 1533 under heavy load and I presume it should work well for streaming since it can do 450Mb connections. If the load is breaking functionality of the 1533, thats not good.

I've already done some heat temp tests on this board and used a laser temp gun to measure the 857 under load. From what I got back from D-Link, all were in spec. I did get a laptop cooler plate for it when I did run it just to be safe and worked well.

There a metal plate heat sinks under and over the main board so it does have pretty good heat dissipation I think.

Wow, I had no idea that other folks had this issue with the DAP-1533.

Mine has now failed 3 times with the ethernet ports going.

Really a poor poor product from DLink.
I'll likely get it replaced under warranty and sell it and get another product.
Don't feel like dealing with a 4th failed AP.

Oh to add, it's sitting vertically, with plenty of space around it, so heat isn't an issue.

Well mines still working. Have you contacted D-Link support yet? If not, please do so we can get this tracking. Please get a case number and PM me the number. I'll keep in touch with my contact at D-link and see what can be done. The more people we get notifying D-Link about this, hopefully the sooner they will take a look and hopefully fix it.

Please keep us posted.

Not for the third failure, I've been too busy to contact them and go through the trouble shooting before they deem it failed again...
I'll get to it at some point over the next few weeks... my warranty is until early next year, so I have some time.

Do you have a working DAP currently or has the next one failed as well? I'm wondering if there is any other items to look at that could be causing the DAPs to fail, i.e. LAN wires, switches or router? I presume swapping of cabling as been done and testing of the DAP with out any other devices like a network switch have been done?

Please list any switches you use if any. Is your main host router the DIR-857?

No, I don't have a currently working DAP, it failed a couple of months ago, but as I said, I didn't feel like dealing with it at the time as I was quite busy with work.

Yes, I've tried different ethernet cables, though how that would be the cause would baffle me.
The DAP is connected to my DIR-857 via wireless (I forget if that's bridge or AP mode right now, not at home to check).

I've tested the DAP every which way, it's failed for sure, since this is the 3rd time it's happened.
I'd rather not give out my personal info to be honest, even via PM, so I think I'll just get a product from another manufacturer after this one is replaced.

So I finally tried calling support and after 20 mins of trouble shooting, I got disconnected.
Got a call back, and working on a new case # to escalate from your side Furry.

Furry, I've PM'ed you the case number... holding on the RMA until I hear from you, but I do have a time limit to submit the RMA, so hopefully you can assist in sufficient time.

Thanks.

Thanks Furry, hopefully someone will pay attention to this case since it's pretty clear from my experience that there is a design flaw with this access point.
