Time and Geolocation??
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:54:24 AM »

Hello,

I have had my DIR-628 for quite a while now.  I just moved to a new state/town.  After plugging my 628 in everything has been working as before.  However, when I cannot my cell phone to my WI-FI network, the time changes to the timezone I used to live in and it sets my geo location as my old town.  As soon as I disconnect from the 628 network and am back on Sprint's network, the time and geo location are correct.

I have adjusted the time zone on the router, but still no luck.  Does anyone know settings(s) I may need to change to correct this?  Nothing major, just annoying.

Thanks much.

I would set up an NTP server address for time.nist.gov under Advanced/Time.
Make sure you set your time zone too.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2 and Cipher type to AES only if your device support this.
