Problems connecting to TV wirelessly
« on: January 09, 2012, 08:35:03 PM »

Bought a Panasonic HDTV recently (TCP50ST30) and I'm having trouble connecting my DIR-615 router to the tv. The TV uses a USB connecter to connect to the router wireless, but it always fails to "acquire ip address" during its network connection test. I need help! thanks

Whats this USB connector? A wireless adapter of some sort? Need more details here. Sounds like the T.V. doesn't come with a built in wireless adapter?

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it is a wireless adapter that connects to the USB port of the TV.

What model is this wireless adapter? Know what modes and security it supports?

I guess you can try setting the 615 to wireless single mode G and turn off security temporarily to see if you can get the adapter to connect.

Might need a specific mode and security setting to make it all work.

On the routers web page: Setup/wireless/manual/WPA settings to OFF or disable.

Try using TPIK only for security settings as you should have security ON for WiFi. Having it OFF will allow others access to your internet which isn't recommended. TPIK is a common older security mode. I would check with the MFR of that WIFI USB adapter and see what security modes it supports.
