Title: How Do I Create Schedules On My DIR-816 Router?
Post by: smartcard on September 26, 2016, 10:55:56 AM
I purchased a DIR 816 (not 816L) from Middle East.
The firmware ver is 1.02
I want to setup the Schedules, as per this link http://www.dlink.com.sg/how-do-i-create-schedules-on-my-dir-816-router/ the Schedule option is available under the "Tools" menu.  But I don't see any Tools menu in my router.

Please help me

Are there any scheduling options on any of the feature tabs?

I presume if you don't see any that maybe this particular model doesn't support it. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

I am having an issue with setting up a schedule with my DIR-816l router.  The problem is that I cannot select the schedule for applying the policy.  I should have the option of Always, Never, and Define New Schedule.  I only have the "Always" option, which is not helpful for creating and overnight policy.
Hardware Version is B1 and Firmware is 2.05.

Thoughts?

Is there any menu features that have Management/Time&Schedule/Schedule? As seen here? http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir880l/101/Schedule.html (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir880l/101/Schedule.html)

I am actually using the old Dlink interface but I did find something like that.  The setup instructions are different from what I found online and have done previously.  I am used to setting the schedule within the rule that I am trying to establish.  In this case, I need to go to the Tools menu, create a schedule which then will get added to the Access Control Menu and can be added to the rule from there.  Easy...once you know the process.  Previously, I just selected define new schedule under access control.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, yes with the old UI, it's different. Sounds like you got it working.

For future needs:
Router Access Control, Blocking, Web Filters and Scheduling FAQ (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=56479.0)
To set up scheduling:
1. Reserve device IP addresses ON the router under Setup/Networking.
2. Set up a schedule under Tools/Schedule on the routers web page. Customize your dates and times here.
3. Use Advanced/Access Control configured and apply the customized schedule to a policy and to the PC(s) or device(s) desired to be controlled.
4. Ensure Time is set correctly on the router. Tools/Time.

I do believe Setup/Networking/DNS Relay and or Setup/Internet/Manual/Advanced DNS Services need to be enabled along with configuring Reserved IP addresses, Scheduling, and Access Controls.
