Ok had to turn on upnp even if i didn't want to for security reasons, but that seems to make my dchp list more stable. As for smb had to turn on and off samba shares repeatedly until it took switch-check-switch-check. Now my dchp list seems stable,no disconnects for the moment, and smb shows up on my computer. pretty buggy software. I believe that did the trick. let you know if it holds long term. good for now.

Thank you.

UPnP can be left enabled. Its not a security concern anymore. Though disabling it probably shouldn’t cause the problems you were seeing. Something D-Link should look at.

Ok solved my problem. it is obviously interference on 2.4 ghz. I actually own two DIR-890L. i disabled the 2.4 ghz on my main router, the other two 5ghz left on. Added my second as an AP and linked them lan to lan and moved the second router about 6 feet away. the second has all three radios turned on. Now no more drop outs. no more reboots and dhcp client list is good. Tried changing router location router order. In my case its the only thing that worked for me. I know its strange. Not tech enough to tell you if it is the routers or my environment. I believe it to be my environment. Anyway it works now and my obsession is over. time to move on lol.

What channels are you using on both 890Ls?

Use channel one on second router for 2.4ghz and auto for two other 5ghz. The first router has only two 5ghz on auto. works like that for a little while. I am leaving it like that because it works for me now.

The 1st router should be on channel 11 on 2.4Ghz if the 2nd is using channel 1. This should not cause problems with this configuration. I would also set manual channels on 5Ghz as well between the two. Auto maybe causing problems when in close proximity to other wifi signals. Use same far channels from each other. I do this with my stuff. No problems.

What is the distance between the 890Ls in there final places? Should be around 30 feet in between to start.

Ok leaving 2.4ghz on main router just causes me problems even if they are on different channels. The 5ghz seems to work fine on auto, streams hd with no intreruption. the routers are only 6 to 8 feet apart. There may be better configurations but works like this after months of frustration. So I am going to leave it like this. This happened because I moved to a new house. I will play with this again when I purchase a new ax router.
Thanks for the feed back.

6 to 8 feet is TOO close.  :o The WiFI range on these routers can cover well up to 30 feet. I bet you wont have any problems with 2.4Ghz if you give more distance between the 890Ls. If your going to have them this close, it would be best to turn OFF ALL radios on the main host router.

hi,  Sorry for resurrecting a really old thread, but were you able to resolve this issue?
I just started experiencing the same with my router (it's 5 year old at this point) and am wondering if it's just conked out and needs to be replaced?
