Update from Java 7U45 to 7U51 creates error message.(Solved)
« on: January 15, 2014, 02:16:49 PM »

My DCS932L was recently updated to the V1.07 firmware. Things were working fine until today when I updated my Java from 7U45 to 7U51. Now I am getting a Security Exception error;  "Missing required Permissions manifest attribute in main jar:   http:// My-DCS932L-address /aplug.jar"   (I am connecting using DDNS). Has anyone else experienced this error and if so were you able to resolve the problem? I tried uninstalling and re-installing Java but that didn't help. By the way this happens in both IE9, Firefox 26 and Chrome 32.

Thanks for replying lakkdainen and xavier7. Are you both using the V1.07 firmware in your camera?

Well I have the problem solved. :D Java 7U51 has increased security. You have to go to Java in Control Panel, click on the Security tab, click on the Edit Site List button and add the URL or URL's of your DLink webcam(s). I have a DCS920 and DCS932L which both had the error message; now are working fine.

Thanks for that, worked for me as well. Tedious, but worked.

The following procedure can be used to adjust the Java security exceptions in Windows after updating to the latest Java version.

  • Open the Start Menu on the bottom left of the Windows Task Bar
  • Expand All Programs and navigate to the Java folder
  • Open Configure Java inside the Java folder
  • The Java Control Panel will open in a new window
  • Select the Security tab
  • Press the Edit Site List button
  • Press the Add button and enter the D-Link Cloud camera URL or IP address
  • Press OK (Edit Site List window will close)
  • Press OK (Java Control Panel window will close)

Note: Selecting Java from the Windows Control Panel "may" not provide access to the Edit Site List option on some PCs. The above navigation path must be used to access these settings.

Hi JavaLawyer,

Using Windows Control Panel to access the Java Control Panel, Security tab and Edit Site List works on my Vista and Windows 7 computers!

Hmm. . . that option is not available on two PCs I've tested on. It's possible there are security restrictions in place on some PCs that hide the option when accessed through the Control Panel.  :-\  ???

Just as a footnote to this: when adding an exception to Java, make sure to use "http:\\" in front of the IP address that you want to enter, because the application doesn't assume it. I couldn't enter the IP of the camera on my local network to start with because I wasn't doing this, and was baffled as to why until I realised that was what I needed to do!
