Desperately Seeking help to connect 825L to cloud
« on: March 21, 2016, 04:11:37 PM »

Hi everyone,

I have a DCS-825L that used to work perfectly well and now it has stopped working. I work in IT and am fairly tech Savvy so feel free to give me technical instructions and I will try my best to follow. Here is the story:

- I have a base router that distributes WiFi in the house
- I have Range extender/ repeater that connects to base router and extends wifi coverage to the rest of the house.

The router is currently configered to WPA - TKIP
The repeater is connceted to router using WPS pairing and has the same SSID as the router.

The above router/repeater setup worked perfectly fine for  several months, until it stopped working all of a sudden.

Here is the story with the camera:

I reset the camera using the pinhole button.
I then connect to it using the myDlink baby app. Everything works fine - I can connect to the camera, set name and password, see the liveview photo etc. I can also connect it to my Wifi.

I get a problem when in th elast step of the setup process (using the app on iPhone) it "searches" for the device. It can never find the device.
Sometimes it can't find the device and stops. At other times it can't find the device and flicks to the app's login page - and it can never login to myDlink account because connection times out.

I have tried using the web-browser to navigate to the admin console of the camera itself using http://ip_address/end/admin/(tried various pages)
I can clearly see that the camera is connected to my Wifi.

I can also browse the camera liveview through the app if i go to the "local" camera section and browse through it from there. I can't see the camera in the "remote" camera section however.

Using myDlink Lite (not myDlink baby app), I can see the camera and its live view through the local section again. In this app however, I see a "add to cloud" button that looks like a could logo with a plus on it. When I click that, It asks me if i'd like to connect this camera to myDlink account. I click yes, but the connection times out and it throws an error saying, can't connect to mydlink.

I've tried resetting my router, repeater and camera several times. I've tried various settings on my router.
I've also tried taking out the repeater completely to eliminate the possibility that it's mucking something up in my network - but no joy.

This is really frustrating.

Note - I have DCS-930 and DCS-932L cameras (several) in my house and they work completely fine!

Please help!!

Can you set AES mode instead of TPIK on the main host router? I think Cameras work better using AES mode.
What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
What Mfr and Model# is the main host router and extender?
Does the camera work if you connect the camera to the main host router and avoid using the extender?
What FW version is currently loaded on the Camera?

THanks FurryNutz. Answers to your questions below.

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router? b/g/n
What Mfr and Model# is the main host router and extender? Router is a basic huawei provided by my ISP, extender is netgear np53
Does the camera work if you connect the camera to the main host router and avoid using the extender?  Yes it does, but still can't connect to mydlink account.
What FW version is currently loaded on the Camera?  the latest fw downloaded two days ago. it installed perfectly fine.

Can try setting a Static IP address on the camera itself, try 192.168.#.25 and not sure if uPnP and uPnP Port Fowarding is with in the menu features of this camera however if you can check to see if those are available and if so, enable them both.

Is there a model # for the main host router?

I did try setting a static IP on the camera itself and that didn't work but I did something like 192.168.1.## rather than what you've suggested. I will try that as well.

The camera doesn't have uPnp options but the router does.

The router doesn't have a manufacturer printed at the back - i imagine its a mainstream router rebranded by Vodafone (my ISP). i've found a link to a PDF manual if it helps. It's simply called the Vodafone Station.

Sorry the repeater is an ASUS Np-53 model, not netgear as I mentioned previously. But you probably already figured that out.

The vodafone station seems to be a Sercom SGH1500.

What region are you located?

I'm wondering if the ISP modem is playing a part in all of this.  ???

Any chance you have a friend, family member or nieghbor whom you could take the camera over too and see if it works there?
You might phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask to see if there is any problems with the mydlink.com service.

Yes I will give that a go.
The funny thing is that it used to work really well until recently, when it completely spat the dummy.
Tried calling the local D-Link support team - complete waste of time. They went through the standard checklist without actually even understanding what I was saying. Someone was reading off a script clearly. To say I'm disappointed in their capability would be an understatement.

Thanks for your help FurryNutz. I will provide an update after trying another Wifi network.

Hi, I have one of these.   I wired it up to a cam, and using 5G to the router.

Any update on your status?   Solved your issues?
