Hi,
I installed the new release of Dview Cam DCS-100 v5.0.0, when viewing the cameras, everything is blank, I don't have this issue with the previous version of the software. Anyone else experience this and if so is there a fix ?
Cheers.

Nope. Worked fine for me. Have you look in the camera setup page?

Hi
I have the same problem here too - just installed v5.0.0 and the camera images are not viewable in the admin console or the playback application on my server - I'm running Windows Server Essentials 2016.
The recordings are viewable from my Windows 10 device so the recording aspect is working fine. IIRC both console and playback worked 100% OK on the previous version (v4.1.1 with device pack v2.2.5). I'm wondering if it's some kind of Windows Server imaging issue.
Any ideas most welcome!

I am running Windows 2012 R2 Server, but have also tested it on Windows 10 machine and even on a Windows 7 VM, all comming up as blank, could it be some sort of codec issue ?
-
I will see if a tech can test this.
Are these all fresh installs or updates?
What cameras are being used?
Is it only live video that is not being displayed? Does everything else seem normal?
-
Installing mine now. I have v4.2.1 already installed. Asked to remove prior version.
Is there a way to recover the console PW or wipe out the PW on a installed PC if the PW was forgotten? Been trying to remember the PW on my main 7 PC but its not letting me in. I presume there isn't a default PW. ::)

My 3 cameras are working on v5.00 on Windows 7x32:

I'll install on my Windows 10 x64 PC as well.

I upgraded from 4.2 to 5, cameras being used are DCS-6314 and DCS3716. Yes, just the live feed, it appears the recording is working.
-
So I have just tested it again, if I run the 32bit exe it works, if I run it as 64bit I get the blank screen.
C:\Program Files (x86)\D-Link\D-ViewCam\x64
Is there something else I need to do here ?

I tried running both 32 and 64 bit MainConsole.exe files but got blank camera screens in both situations on the 2016 Server (accessed via Remote Desktop Connection).

I did an update rather than a fresh install. I have four DCS-5010L cameras.
On the server - no camera display in the Main Console application and no camera display when using the Playback System application - note I am using Remote Desktop Connection to access the 2016 server and run Main Console/Playback System. There was no problem viewing cameras in V4 this way.
On Windows 10 Enterprise (v1803) - I can use Playback System application to view recordings made on the 2016 Server. I can also install and view the cameras on the Windows 10 PC via a separate install of Main Console on this PC.
Other than not being able to view the cameras when on the Server machine the applications seem to work as they did in V4 - this is the only issue I have found.

Has anyone found a solution to this v5 behavior? I am running a 2008 r2 server and if I load v4 on either bare metal or VM guest, everything works OK. If I upgrade or perform a default installation of v5 then I have no video on the monitor, or in camera configuration. Thanks.

I still suffer with the original problem, never found a cure. Seems it works fine for some people but not others.

Has anyone uninstalled the DVC program from there PC then do a clean fresh re-install of it and setup from scratch?
-
So I uninstalled Dviewcam v5, deleted the contents and folder for Dlink under "Program Files (x86)", restarted the server then re-installed the latest v5 software.
Same result, no video on server display (via RDP).
However, Dviewcam picked up the configuration data from somewhere so I did not have to add the IP cameras, they were already there when I opened Main Console.
So I'm guessing the configuration data is stored somewhere else on the server. I'd be grateful if someone would tell me what other files/folders I need to delete (and if a file(s), then also where are they located) before re-installing so I can add the cameras "from scratch"?
Thanks - Mike

Tried but no joy, have made changes multiple times with a restart to the software in between but still no video.
Out of interest I tried to view the IP cameras using Internet Explorer and have found that I can not see the video this way either. I confirm I got the ActiveX module to install correctly (if shows up under Manage Add-Ons as "Enabled").
So I'm thinking this could be some kind of Remote Desktop/video on the Windows Server issue rather than just with the D Link ViewCam software? Any ideas anyone?
Thanks - Mike

I have tried everything, and I also have blank cameras when viewed through RDP. I have even upgraded to 5.2.0, and it did not fix the issue. I tried all of the fixes. This is very annoying and makes the software almost unusable.
I have it installed on a Windows Server 2016 computer. All of the versions previous to 5.0 works fine.

Hey guys, I have a similar issue. I remoted into to our Server 2019 where we have our D-Viewcam stored, and it's v5.2.0, and I we have two DCS-4603 cameras.
When I open D-ViewCam - I am only seeing blanks. - with a green indicator light.
When I open the IP through webinterface, I can view the camera live.
Any tips on how to fix it?

This issue is still happening and I contacted DLINK Support and got an answer. Just wanted to share it.
We went from using DCS-100 version 4.2.2 for years now and using RDP to remote into a computer on site to check the cameras. Works really well. When upgrading to version 5.X.X it uses Direct X which uses a remote display driver, so RDP does not work with it anymore.
DLINK support said they do not support it and will not support functionality for remote desktop viewing cameras. So if you are using RDP, stay on version 4.2.2 and don't upgrade the software.
Our issue is we have 36 cameras and 4.2.2 only supports 32. Apparently version 5.X.X supports 64 cameras. We need to view using remote desktop software to a computer on site because streaming 36 cameras over a remote internet connection just doesn't work. DLINK told us we are out of luck and they had no plans to support remote desktop viewing on their software.
